Fall TV Preview: What Happens When Angels Fall?
Networks continue to roll out their fall premieres. Tonight, the CW thriller, Supernatural, begins it's ninth season. The show has had a pretty impressive run. After being banished to Friday nights a few years ago, the show was able to more than hold it's own and last year it was moved to Wednesdays and paired with freshmen hit, Arrow. This year, the show is on the move again, this time to Tuesdays where it's lead-in is Vampire Diaries spin-off, The Originals. So, where did we leave the Winchester Brothers last year and what can we expect from the coming season? Hit the jump for more.
Where We Left Off: The boys continued to complete the trials in order to seal the gates of Hell. They capture Crowley, Sam injects him with his purified blood in order to turn him human, while Dean, Metatron, and Castiel attmempt to get a Cupid's bow. Outside forces attempt to stop them, including Abaddon and Naomi, but the boys and Castiel seem to be on the verge of success. Until, Castiel goes to heaven and finds Naomi dead by her own torture device. Who's the killer? Metatron. Metatron extracts Castiel's grace, the last thing he needs to finish his actual plan. Dean is able to stop Sam from completing the final trial before it kills him, and they leave the church in time to see angels falling from heaven, including Castiel.
What Can We Expect: Big news first: Bobby's back! That's right, idjits, Bobby will make his way back to the land of the living. There is no word on how that'll happen but I'm sure I'm not alone who is feeling elated by the news. Also, Castiel will adjust to being human, again. At the Supernatural Comic Con panel this year, EP, Jeremy Carver, talked about the fun scenarios they were going to be putting Castiel in, like using a toilet, for example. We can expect return appearances from Charlie and Sheriff Mills. Misha Collins and Jensen Ackles will both be directing episodes this season. Episode 20 will be a backdoor pilot for a spin-off. The character that the spin-off will focus on remains unnamed.
So, what do you guys think? Are you excited? Do you wish Charlie would be on full-time? She's awesome. Any spin-off ideas? Hit the comments with your theories.
