A Long Time Ago, During the Clone Wars: "Heroes On Both Sides," "Pursuit of Peace," & "Senate Murders"

Have you been looking for more Senate intrigue in "The Clone Wars?" Heated debates about banking deregulation? Clandestine meetings with Senators on the other side? Trying to count votes? Well then these are the episodes for you! I know it sounds like this is snark, but it really isn't.

"In the Name of the Moon" Re-Watch: "Moon Returns: The Mysterious Aliens Appear," "For Love and For Justice: Sailor Guardians Once Again" & "For Whom is the White Rose? The Moonlight Knight Appears"

 Sailor Moon R

We kick off season 2 of "Sailor Moon" or as it is now known: "Sailor Moon R." The R stands for either "Return" or "Romance." "Sailor Moon" was originally supposed to be a one season and done, but it was so successful Toei Animation commissioned creator, Naoko Takeuchi, to continue writing the manga. The first thirteen episodes of "Sailor Moon R" are comprised of the Makai Tree arc featuring new alien antagonists, Ail and An. This arc did not appear in the manga. It was written to give Takeuchi time to finish the manga's second arc which is the "Black Moon" arc which introduces Chibiusa. What is Ail and An's deal? How do the girls get their memories back. Let's find out.

"Last Son" Re-Watch: "The Main Man" Part 1 & 2 & "My Girl"

 Superman The Animated Series

Lobo is definitely an example of the type of characters that thrived in the '90s. He's very much in the vein of Deadpool. Lobo is EXTREME. He's the main man. He drives a space motorcycle and shoots giant guns. He's a bounty hunter. He is vulgar and uses all these pseudo alien swear words. Lobo was actually introduced in "Omega Men" #3 in June of 1983. His popularity rose due to his appearances in "Justice League International" and in 1990 he had his first solo miniseries.

"foX-Men" Re-Watch: X-Men: Apocalypse

 X-Men Apocalypse

I have two really clear memories of the movie "X-Men: Apocalypse" and neither really have anything to do with the contents of the film. I remember a couple of months before the movie released there was an "Entertainment Weekly" cover story where you got your first good look at Apocalypse and in the photo he was definitely giving Ivan Ooze vibes from the first "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" movie. Then, when the movie was released there was a prominent billboard in Los Angeles and New York that featured Apocalypse choking Mystique. It was an odd choice and there was understandable outrage over it. I included the picture in the body of this post.

Principal photography on "X-Men: Apocalypse" began in April 2015 and ended in August 2015. The film stars James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Raven/Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy/Beast, Oscar Isaac as En Sabah Nur/Apocalypse, Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggart, Evan Peters as Peter Maximoff/Quicksilver, Josh Helman as Col. William Stryker, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as Scott Summers/Cyclops, Lucas Till as Alex Summers/Havok, Kodi Smitt-McPhee as Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler, Ben Hardy as Angel, Alexandra Shipp as Ororo Munroe/Storm, Olivia Munn as Psylocke, Lana Condor as Jubilee and Carolina Bartczak as Magda. The film was written by Simon Kinberg. It was directed by Bryan Singer. "X-Men: Apocalypse" premiered on May 27, 2016.

"Hated and Feared" Re-Watch: "Repo Man" & "X-Ternally Yours"

 X-Men

Alpha Flight was created by the classic "Uncanny X-Men" team of Chris Claremont and John Byrne. They first appeared in "Uncanny X-Men" #120. They are Canada's premiere superhero team but they were only supposed to appear in a one off issue. Marvel convinced Byrne to write and draw their own series. Byrne left the series after the first 28 issues but it continued for 130. The classic line up is Vindicator, Shaman, Sasquatch, Puck, Snowbird, Northstar and Aurora. Alpha Flight and it's characters continue to be popular in modern day comics whether patrolling space with Captain Marvel or going after the Immortal Hulk. Northstar made waves as the first major comics character to come out of the closet and get married. He continues to play a major role in the modern "X-Men" comics.

"Mischief Makers" Loki Recap: "Glorious Purpose" & "The Variant"

 Loki

The third Disney+ MCU series of 2021 focused on one of the most popular characters to come out of the MCU, Tom Hiddleston's Loki Laufeyson. Now that we've seen "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and "Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness" is fast approaching, it's clear that "Loki" will be very important to the remainder of Phase 4 and what comes after. It's also the only live action Disney+ series so far that has gotten a second season.

A Long Time Ago, During the Clone Wars: "Sphere of Influence," "Evil Plans," "Hostage Crisis" & "Hunt For Ziro"

 Star Wars The Clone Wars

When we dived deeper into season two, I mentioned how each season of "The Clone Wars" was themed. Where season two was all about the bounty hunters, the theme of season three, which we are getting heavily into, is "Secrets Revealed." It won't be long before this theme becomes very apparent.

"In the Name of the Moon" Re-Watch: "Death of the Sailor Guardians: The Tragic Final Battle" & "Usagi's Eternal Wish: A Brand New Life"

 Sailor Moon

If you are only familiar with the Americanized DiC dub of the original "Sailor Moon" then these final two episodes of season one could look very different to you. They edited these two episodes together because they wanted to shield kids from all the death, which is crazy to me. Kids were definitely used to hearing/seeing death in cartoons. I mean, look at Disney. It's finally time for the girls to face down the Dark Kingdom after they sent their cats and they failed. Let's go!

"The Truth Is Out There" Re-Watch: "Excelsis Dei" & "Aubrey"

 The X-Files

These episodes are kind of awkward and definitely not my favorites so let's just jump right in and we will get through this together.
