The Dolls Hit the Mat and Go For the Gold in the First Ever Draglympics

RuPaul's Drag Race, Episode 6: "The Draglympics"

Oh Ra'Jah D. O'Hara. You certainly aren't doing a lot to endear yourself to Drag Race fans. Ra'Jah is hard to read. I can't decide if her asides would be like fun shade if they were delivered by someone else or in a different way. This could just be her personality. Who knows? I do know that her haters aren't going to be changing their tune anytime soon, especially if they watched the preview for tomorrow night's episode. It's rough. Ra'Jah just comes off as cruel and that is never a good look in a situation like this. I know she's gotten a lot of hate on social media because of the results of the lip sync and if you're reading this and are one of those people, cut it the fuck out. Ra'Jah didn't make the decision.

Galisthenics
For the mini-challenge, the queens get their Jane Fonda work out tape on with "skag" drag queen, Love Connie. This is a really entertaining segment and Love Connie is a blast. She really brings the energy up in the Werk Room the moment she bursts through the door. She has a great rapport with every queen that she interacts with and that just makes everything even more enjoyable. I'd be down for a Love Connie workout challenge every season. Let's make it happen! The winners of the mini challenge were A'Keria C. Davenport and Plastique Tiara. It's especially nice to see A'keria win something. She's really growing on me. Like a fungus.

The maxi challenge is competing in the Draglympics. There will be three categories: Fanography, vogueing and shablams. Team A'keria is Brooke Lynn, Silky, Shuga and Yvie. Team Plastique is Vanjie, Scarlet, Nina and Ra'Jah. The gals meet up with choreographer Travis Wall and Olympian Adam Rippon. I'm not really sure what Adam Rippon is doing there. He doesn't really add much to the proceedings. The major drama in A'keria's group is that Silky has issues with the choreography and Yvie is trying to not let her team down due to her disease. Team Plastique has a few more issues because only Vanjie seems to have rhythm. There's a lot of shade thrown at Scarlet for her lack of dance talent, but it's not like any of the other girls are going to be winning "So You Think You Can Dance."

Graceful.
This challenge reminds me a lot of the cheerleading challenge from season 9, which is my all-time least favorite Drag Race challenge. This is not as bad as that, but it feels like it's going on for too long. It's super dragged out. Team A'keria is great. Yvie hurts her ankle coming down and it sucks. Yvie has been very vocal about not wanting to be treated differently because of her condition so to see this happen to her is super disheartening. Team Plastique is not as graceful. Nina is pulling some great faces. Vanjie slays. Scarlet is a hot mess. She definitely does better than rehearsal, but that's not saying much. She's clearly the weak link on her team.

Goldie Hawns
The runway theme is "all that glitters is gold." The runways are getting consistently better and that makes me happy. Team A'keria is the winner of the challenge and A'keria gets her first win. Well deserved. I loved her runway look. It was very RuPaul. I loved the feathers at the bottom. Great job.

Team Plastique lands in the bottom. None of the runway looks blow me away. I love Plastiques from the neck up and Nina's from the waist up. Ra'Jah, Vanjie and Scarlet are not great. Vanjie especially is disappointing. It's a bathing suit with a bunny mask and gold body glitter. It's frustrating. It's the same thing. And when you think back to Plastique's Playboy bunny look from last week, it makes Vanjie's this week look even weaker.

Ru decides this is the week to ask the queens who they think should go home and everyone says Scarlet except Scarlet who says Ra'Jah. Ra'Jah of course takes it super bad and she tries to blame Scarlet for her performance in the challenge, which is super shitty.

Ra'Jah and Scarlet land in the bottom and there is some controversy. Ra'Jah wins the lip sync and people seem to think that Scarlet should have. I'm not sure about that. She cut a dress and threw some glitter. And even had she won, would she have lasted much longer? Did anyone have Scarlet in their top 4?

So, there we have it. We are down to the single digits! Let me know what you think in the comments.
